ABOUT
Isabelle Pouya is an Indiana-born, New York-based pop-soul and alternative pop singer-songwriter. With a soulful, expressive voice and an instinct for storytelling, she creates music with a soul of its own, where the emotion behind a voice speaks just as powerfully as the lyrics themselves. For Isabelle, music carries more than a melody—it’s an expression of character, honesty, and the desire to say something real, when the words alone aren't enough.
Growing up in a small town in Indiana, Isabelle was surrounded by a world where school, college, and traditional careers were the expected path. She struggled in school and endured years of bullying, often feeling out of place in the world around her. Music became her escape. There was something magnetic about it, a pull she couldn't explain. It gave her somewhere to disappear into her emotions, to say the things she couldn't always say out loud, and to turn even the most difficult moments into art. Entirely self-taught and possessing perfect pitch, Isabelle developed her musical abilities by ear, finding notes, melodies, and chords without ever learning to read or write musical notation. With no formal rules to follow, she trusted her instincts and what she felt, allowing emotion to shape her music rather than forcing it into a formula.
That sensitivity extends beyond her own experiences. Isabelle has an always been able to pick up on the emotions of those around her, particularly the feelings people try to hide and that they never say out loud. She carries those feelings into her songwriting, finding stories in unspoken thoughts and moments. Her lyrics rarely reveal everything at face value. She is drawn to the contradictions and the things left unsaid, leaving enough mystery for listeners to find their own experiences within her words. Her music moves between the intimacy of heartbreak and the freedom of losing yourself in a moment, but the instinct behind it remains the same: to make someone feel something real. Having spent much of her own life finding comfort in music, Isabelle understands how a stranger's voice can make you feel less alone. She doesn't want to tell people what her songs should mean. She wants them to hear something of their own lives in them, to feel understood without having to explain why.
